I wouldn't be spending a minute obtaining and setting up a generator - I'd be packing up everything I could and putting it into storage before my house fell into the sea!

At this point, you gotta move, or the earth will do it for you.

I built a tree house on a tree that was rotting away and then I was shocked when it fell. I tried nailing 2x 4’s to the rotted area but the nails didn’t hold. I’m planning to sue the guy that planted the tree that fell.

I think it’s delusional to build so close to a coastal cliff and not realize the water and shifting soil are prone to erode over time. On top of that with it also being in an earthquake zone that guy you spoke to is totally deluded. I wouldn’t be surprised if the whole town slides into the Ocean.

Land has been shifting for more than 1000 years there.

Land has been moving since the 50’s. But now it’s time to move out, since it’s getting worse, and trying to fix things will not actually fix things. You can’t fight something as a mighty as the entire earth crust shifting. The US electrical grid will not win this one.

And too many are moving to Florida which has unstble areas, especially Miami area, and sinkholes, all over. Look on a drone map. All those round/semi round lakes, and ponds aresinkholes that happened hundredsof years ago totoday. The land under Florida is shell and porus.

The geological problems in these areas were well-known for decades. These areas should have been zoned to prohibit residential development, or any development for that matter, but there was too much money to be made. One can only imagine the amounts of corrupting cash that flowed from hand to hand in local government to get these housing divisions authorized. Now these homeowners are left holding the tab for it all. It's not the fault of the power company that they bought houses build on a landslide. Further, California has held the power companies financially liable for property damage and personal injuries resulting from fires started by natural damages to power transmission equipment. This liability has run into the billions. Now, at the first hint of a natural disaster which might cause their equipment to start any fire, they just pull the plug. When the locals object, the company reminds them that they cannot have it both ways. California is beautiful, but living there must be a constant headache.

Whoa, the whole general area (and beyond) is totally doomed for ever ! PLUS, I have the feeling that most home owners DO NOT have insurance for this type of catastrophic event !?!?

Remove trees to make roads on the side of a cliff? Damn climate change is a itch.
