As someone in their early 20’s still navigating financial literacy I appreciate this video so much. You’re absolutely right about including a budget in your goals and having an emergency fund. Super informative 🙏🏽💜

I love 💕 your energy, highly appreciated 💯. You can only remain broke when you live over your means, spend more and invest less. Do not be in a haste to forget that liabilities feed on you while assets feed you. Start up an investment and save your future. Forex is a very good Idea

Ok I see you cranking them out!!! These lessons need to be a part of a curriculum before college. It takes years to rebuild credit after a few months of mistakes. Sometimes it blocks a job. Thanks for these tips

I saved $1000.00 for a starter emergency fund. i saved all receipts for a month and made my first budget with that. i subtracted my monthly pay from monthly expenses to come up with discretionary income. i used this to pay off my parent plus loan and Car in two years. i did build in fun and vacations into my budget. i then saved up 3 months of household expenses for an emergency fund, and now i’m saving for a down payment on a house. A budget gives you freedom to make your goals/ dreams a reality

Hey Dr. Nina! Your ideas are absolutely correct. I'm in my 50s and my parents put me on solid footing financially at an early age. I recall my father meeting with our insurance agent in our "front room" (Chi-town folks can relate to this term) and drawing up a policy when I was seven. I am still paying the monthly premium 40 years later and it is under $15 every month. The cash value from that policy has helped me pay for college and provided the down payment when I was ready for my first car. The most important part of many financial tools is the element of time. When you can utilize a financial instrument early in your life, career, and/or education, having the courage to let it have time to grow and work for YOU later in life is the reward. My parents instructed me to "invest" in activities that provide you with OPTIONS. Try not to have to make decisions when your back is up against a wall - it will always cost you. Best.

Cash, cash and more cash! Cash keeps you rich, credit keeps you poor. Live like a leader.

Great video! Was never taught about money; unfortunately made bad decisions which lead to me doing a proposal to clear my debt in my late 30s. Fast forward to 46 years old, and my credit score is excellent. I've always budgeted, but my 2022 budget outline is my best yet!
Ladies, if you get paid biweekly, there are two months in the year you get an extra pay period!!!! Having a solid budget allows you to see it and take advantage of it - trust and believe!!

A financial tip I wish that I would have learned earlier in life was to buy Life Insurance in my 20's and keep paying the premiums! The older you get, the higher the monthly fee.

This video is so necessary. One of my favorite things to do is pay myself no matter how much it is because it will add up and paying my credit card minimum before its due !

I wished I had the financial "cents" back then that I have now! I would be in a much better place however, it's never too late to learn. Having life insurance and things like that in order is VERY important. When my brother passed away this year, he had no life insurance or a will in place. With no life insurance, we had to pay for his funeral out of pocket. Luckily, there was some money we had in savings but now those fund's are depleted. So if nothing else was learned in this situation, make sure you have life insurance and a will. It will help your family tremendously. Thanks for sharing this awesome and needed information Dr. Nina 💜💖

Per usual you come through with so many gems! I love seeing Sistas sharing their financial knowledge. At this point I feel like I’ve gotten pretty good at saving since I include it as a monthly bill. I really want to learn about investing now. Great video beautiful!! So inspiring!

Really solid advice, well done. The stuff I learned through trial and error have been some of the most important and hardest won learnings. Pay yourself first! If you loan people money, cover yourself by putting a legally binding loan agreement in place first. Save for your retirement. Pause before purchasing. Etc, etc. Small actions add up. Every day counts.
