It feels me with great faith and strength....how our saints and martyrs in christ our lord, represent strength of love, faith and peace of God. How we Christians have been persecuted every where and yet we flourished...just by the grace of Almighty God.

Her life was fascinating. I just learned that her diary and account of her imprisonment was one of the few documents that survived that century and are therefore invaluable. She was from a wealthy family, hence her being able to read and write, at a time that only about 5% of the population were literate.

From what I've researched they are two of the Roman Christian martyrs who we can be quite confident we have an accurate account of. In the case of Perpetua we have a first and last name, age, a detailed and very personal account of her imprisonment and eventual execution.

Probably the best wriiten account of a roman saints life would have to be Augustine's confessions. Although he only uses his life events as an example of how he was or wasnt relating to God at particular moments its still a very good autobiography.
