As a black person when I hear non-Black people talk about racism it doesn’t even register with me mainly because the same groups are extremely racist towards Black people. It’s the audacity of overwhelming hypocrisy that gets to me. They have no problem being racist towards Black people.

I'm Filipina American, and I can say for myself that it's absolutely absurd to me the way that I see many other people in my community acting as though proximity to power will somehow equate to true freedom and equity. Until the playing field is level for all of us, the playing field is level for none of us.

Racist people and racist systems are only in place to serve those that the system deems to be "worthy" . And trust, it will never be anyone other than the color of printer paper that will be allowed in that particular country club. Centuries of colonialism and unchecked capitalism has proven that time and again. The saying is, when somebody shows you who they are, believe them - and those in power of our oppressive systems have shown us time and time again exactly who they are.

And morally speaking, why on Earth would anyone want to align with somebody who is absolutely okay with dehumanizing and oppressing entire swathes of people? It's reprehensible, to me, and it makes me feel angry and ashamed that So many in the broader Asian community would align themselves with these people and act like dehumanizing Black people is okay, but then cry and scream and act shocked and surprised and upset when the same treatment is given to them. The dehumanizing and degrading treatment of anyone should be appalling to a fellow human's sensibilities, but again, it just shows that only certain lives matter to some people. And if you align yourself with somebody who believes that only a handful of lives matter, don't be surprised when your life is the next one on the list to be thrown away.
