People don’t realise the kite is way further in front then you think so you can be far away and still hit others, and if you collide (especially while jumping) it’s such a high risk of it being lethal and you don’t have much control in the air

To those saying it wasn't close aren't accounting for the camera lens possibly making it look further than it was, but more importantly the fact that his kite is much further from him. He wasn't worried about his body colliding with the other kiteborder, but rather his kite getting wrapped around the other kiteboarder or the other kiteboarder's strings. He was yelling NO in a failed attempt to stop the guy from sending it. (jumping) Fortunately, he redirected his kite mid air to miss the other kiteboarder, and still land safely.
