Why You Should Just Keep Your C8 And Not Upgrade to Z06

The new 2023 Z06 is a special car that elevates the iconic nameplate into territory occupied by exotics from Ferrari and Lamborghini. To make the Z06 that capable, engineers had to make a long list of changes from road to roof. While some changes are noticeable, many of them are below the surface. For most buyers the Z06 it is about bragging rights. Very few owners of Corvettes ever track their car. When I was in a Corvette club no one would join me on track days. I am on the list for a Z06 and will be running the car at the track.

The Stingray is by far the greatest value. It is almost equally as fast as the C7 Z06

Interestingly, I’ve heard both in person and the Stingray sounds better at idle and at lower engine RPMs. You really need to get over 5000 RPM for the Z06 to start making beautiful sound. So once again, if you intend to track the car, get the Z06….otherwise you’re better off with the Stingray

The biggest reason not to upgrade is you really can't get one unless you're already on a list to get one...that or pay $40-50K over sticker to a dealer or flipper. The Z06 does little for the street-only driver other than bragging rights.
