Dont spread misinformation, it wasnt this flight attendant, it was a different flight attendant and it was due to sleep deprivation and fatigue.

If it’s Boeing, they’ll fire that door mid flight

It wasn’t even him tho… it was his colleague !! it was linked to lack of alertness from sleep deprivation. Was not fired just had to re do training

Dude is jacked AF for a flight attendant. I'd feel safe flying with homie bringing me drinks.

Incorrect this wasn’t the FA who opened it he was holding it so it doesn’t do damage. The other FA was sent back to training it was due to fatigue

That’s why when your at the gate, the cabin crew manager or pilot will say “Cabin crew, disable slides/rafts” so this doesn’t happen.

Now he gets to slide down, go home, and never come back.

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. I'm happy to say we've TECHNICALLY docked, but today, we will be taking the fun way to exit"

Meanwhile, all the passengers were thinking hell yeah, no stairs to climb down.

for anyone wondering, this is why the flight attendants say, “arm doors for departure” and “disarm doors for arrival” when you get to the gate. they have to “arm” the doors to deploy the slide in case of an emergency cuz they will automatically deploy the slide if opened during the flight.

Raft technician here, once one of those is deployed in a "real life" scenario like that the whole thing needs replacing. Even if it never touched water, being deployed outside of a service station is enough of a reason to scrap it and get a new one. No technician will certify it's safety if it comes to them post deployment.

Well atleast now everyone has a fun way to exit the plane

That "30, 000" dollars is like a hospital charging 100 dollars for a bandage

As a former FA its 30K to INSTALL. it costs around 70K Per slide on a 320 variant.

That's the door of an Airbus 319/320/321. What's really surprising is that the door was able to be held partway open, because when that door's slide is armed, there's also a pneumatic system in the door that gets armed, which forces the door open in an emergency, so once you pull the handle, the door opens itself completely.
While it's good that that situation happened in such a way that the slide could be held and then safely deployed, I can't help but wonder what exactly happened to leave the door unarmed but the slide armed... 😅
(I'm trained in operating these specific doors)

it doesn't cost 30k
the air gets released, the slide is checked for the damage, repackaged and reused

Planeroo: "WTF? I am FINE! Leave my slide ALONE!"

He didn’t “ activate “ the slide - he dropped the slide. The “ girt bar “ is the drop mechanism between the door and the door sill. The slide does not “ activate until reaching the end of its lanyard. When the slide dropped to the end of it’s lanyard it then activated.
