The Nintendo Switch 2 reveal could be just around the corner and while Nintendo has told us nothing yet about the Nintendo Switch successor, calling next generation Nintendo system the Nintendo Switch 2 will finally end once the reveal trailer announcement shows what the next console will actually be called but what will that be? But it would establish it's attempt at being a parallel To NES to SNES transition
And NS (Nintendo Switch) to SNS (Super Nintendo Switch)

I can see them naming it the Nintendo 2 Switch. It would show the people that it's a whole new console and they would play on words too. It would be the same thing as with the 3DS.

I think it's a good point that Nintendo probably won't call it "Switch 2, " so they can continue selling the predecessor model. The thing I’m curious about is how they will make it clear to most buyers that the new system is different from the original Switch. In my mind, it should have some feature to set it apart (like with the DS to 3DS), or many buyers might confuse it with just another update of the console. Also, there are lots of handhelds on the market right now that already offer good performance. I just hope Nintendo has some kind of ace up their sleeve.

I genuinely wish they'd name it Switch 2.

People rarely talk about it, but I've always believed naming is a big reason Playstation is so successful.

You don't need to spend any time or money reselling or educating consumers on your new console. Even general, unaware people can count. If PS3 has been the console for 8 years and a random person walks into a store & sees "Playstation 4, " they can instantly piece together "oh, that's the newest Playstation!"

One look & they will assume newer, more powerful, updated hardware with no advertising needed. With Nintendo, they have to start all over again every time & re-explain things to consumers.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it's the Wii U. And lord knows Xbox is killing themselves with their naming. What general consumer is going to know the difference between Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox One X, etc. etc. etc?

In order to avoid a marketing deficit while still maintaining the name and casual consumer awareness it most likely would include “switch” in the title, so maybe “Nintendo Switch Deluxe:4K”

Super Nintendo Switch would be the easiest to say, because you could just call it the Super Switch, but they would probably call it Nintendo Super Switch, which is more difficult to say. But we are never going to know the actual name until they reveal the system, which if they don't do this month I'm going to lose my mind

I think "Switch 4K" is not really the best way to show that this is a new console entirely, just implies that it's only a slight advancement. I know Switch 2 sounds safe and boring to most people but I think that is just the most straightforward name to let people know that this is not just a minor upgrade. Or they could call it Nintendo Switch Superior or something idk.
