I'm old enough to remember VT-100s and programming COBOL and FORTRAN on punch card!

I still have a Windows XP VM running as there's a piece of software that I need which will only run on XP and there isn't an alternative to it that I'm aware of. I don't allow it to reach the internet though.

My experience Tom is that there is not a significant difference between Unifi "controller" Network server on windows and Linux (ubuntu). So I respectfully disagree with your OS opinion. I've been running both versions for pushing 7 years on both OS's. The Unifi Network Server has exactly the same bugs no matter the underlying OS (Unifi is a JAVA code base after all), and there has been no real difference in performance, reliability, or bugs that we've noticed due to the underlying OS. I'd recommend running the Unifi network server on the OS you feel most comfortable with. I observe Ubuntu 20.04 LTS which I'm forced to run for UNMS has random UI crashes/glitches (for the OS) that I do not experience in the Windows UI. BUT UNMS continues running even when Ubuntu's UI is unresponsive/glitching out un the VM. I suppose too much uptime between reboots (50+days)

Speaking of keybindings, I learned WordStar's using the Turbo Pascal 3.

Heh, my first IT job was at a factory full of those terminals... Good times, and I learned a lot about serial datacom.

Did you actually mention SCO Xenix System V !?!? You haven’t lived unless you used Xenix on a Radio Shack TRS-80. Next comes a DEC MicroVax running Ultrix! Suddenly I feel old. Very old. 😂
