Never forgiving EA for abandoning this game when the game was really getting good

Battlefront II dying for Battlefield 2042 is one of the greatest sins EA has committed. There's pretty much no hope for a revival or a sequel, either, since the devs at EA that made Star Wars games left for companies that actually let them do that.

The "cashgrab" part was surgically removed from the game right after launch. It hasnt been pay to win for 7 years

Unironically the multiplayer was so good, cause ea just axed the microtransactions at the start due to backlash and made *everything* free, it was so much fun, and had great arenas, and when they added conquest *dude*. aalso the space battles were genuinely really fun, EA execs screwed this game's reputation from teh start and then when it hit, what honestly should've been it's release state they left the game. absolute tragedy. ALSO Ewok nightmode was iconic, genuinely terrifying stuff.

also the campaign is cannon. in The Mandalorian, Operation: Cinder is actually mentioned as a story point for one of his companions played by Bill Barr

focusing on the campaign, they marketed it as a imperial perspective story, and yet you end up becoming rebel fighting against the empire, like a million other times before in star wars games, personally felt it should have been the other way round you stay loyal and fight for the empire until the end and your companions turn on you

This game is a gem. It's arguably the last good Dice game (Battlefield V is solid in my opinion though). It is a shame they didn't build on this to make a really good third game, and I think one more big update would have made this a truly great game. Also, on related note, Dice needs to drop microtransactions and just do 4 guaranteed dlcs that are paid. Microtransactions with each game being a slight dissapointment sales wise make them just want to give up on these games way to early

I remember the online game mode ewok hunt, turning this game into pure horror or cute teddy bears killing glow stick people.

Honestly my only complaint with the campaign is it was yet another, "The Empire is evil so I gotta rebel" stories. I wish they had stuck with their marketing and shown us the perspective of loyalist spec-ops.

It's just that "An Imperial that Turns Rebel" is a story that has been done to Death, going all the way back to Han Solo, Wedge Antilles, Sabine Wren, Crosshair and so so so so many others. Plus the marketing for the game said it would be an Imperial campaign and since it really wasn't many people felt lied to.

Fun fact: the compass that Luke finds in this game is how he found Ach to so he could hide himself away in the last Jedi. The item was first conceptualised for Star Wars battlefront when they were developing the campaign, then it was sketched out by Dave Filoni, then he showed to the last jedis prop department who decided to put it in the film, so they created it and flew it out to the remote island that they filmed Ach to on so it could get a close up shot in the movie, and the entire process from “conceptualisation by the Star Wars battlefront devs” to “real item getting filmed in a movie” took one work week. Genuinely one of the fastest turnarounds that I’ve ever seen in the production of anything.

Friendly reminder, Kyber V2 is coming out Q1 2025 on PC, with Battlefront 2 community servers that support mods. Including the Battlefront+ mod, which adds 20+ new heroes and tons more reinforcements, skins, etc.

As a person that has spent 3500+ hours on battlefront 2 I can say that it is the best multiplayer starwars experience currently.

Of all the things that are great about this game, my favorite is switching to first-person while piloting ships. It gives you a cockpit view, and every ship has its own unique cockpit interior in addition to changing the sound to seem muffled, making it feel REALLY immersive. I've played games entirely dedicated to planes and starships that give them all the same cockpit view and it always drives me nuts.

The only disappointing thing about the game is that you can't stay playing as the Empire. Like they should've just made both a Rebel and Empire campaign or given us a choice to betray or stay with the Empire.

Not only is it quite good, with the KYBER that is soon to be launched for everyone, it will be awsome! support the modding devs that are trying to save the game that devs abandoned
