This extension is about two things: Bronny graduating in 2023 and the over-38 rule in the CBA. LeBron's 21st and final season (assuming he's healthy and able) will be wherever Bronny is drafted (assuming he gets drafted).

Whoever drafts Bronny, I think LeBron goes to that team and plays one final season next to his son. This extension is more about Bronny and less of the Lakers' future success.
