We grew up on sexy vampires 😂 But even if we didn't, I am Team Jacob and I like my canines just the way they formed.

I wouldn't want to risk chipping the opposing teeth or exposing the dentin with grinding them into vampire fangs OR getting them rounded out. When I got my braces on at ~12-13, I had mamelons on my permenent incisors and the orthodontist just ground them off (the smell was awful). I thought I had ground my teeth down and now had to be extra carful not to "ruin" my teeth again because the orthodontist didn't tell me why and just got the grinder out. I'm glad he didn't think that canines should be rounded off too!

For anyone curious, I asked my dentist and while he did not say _no, _ he spelled it out for me (because he's fabulous & isn't just trying to make a buck) Here is what he said: _"I'm assuming you mean your canines, right? Well, even if you have your heart set on it, go ahead and pretend to chew like you normally would. You notice how your teeth grind side to side? Everyone's teeth does this a little bit, and these sharp, pointy ends have a tendency to chip [which was something I had to have fixed! A teeny chip at the tip of my canine] so you'd just be coming back in over and over to fix that and I'd hate that for you 🫤 Tell you what, we can do impressions for a retainer with realistic-looking fangs or an invisible aligner. Just don't mess with your teeth."_

*That* was enough for me not to get them done :( I still want --super-- pointy canines!

_I guess I needed to update: No, I don't want long-ass Nosferatu fangs. I just want my canines to be pointy at the edge. Just a teensy bit. I think it looks neat. Some people like all of their teeth being one straight line and some don't. Whatever floats your boat or finds your lost remote!_

We are supposed to have canines. The US ideal of perfectly spaced, bright white, even round teeth is unnatural and it looks fake. As long as you have a high standard of dental hygiene, a colour somewhere on the white range, and no overcrowding, I like the individuality of human teeth. Teeth are the first thing I notice in a person.
