The best family EV? 2025 VW ID Buzz LWB review

The VW ID Buzz has been around for a few years now, giving the humdrum MPV sector a real shot of style. It's now been updated with a long-wheelbase option with a larger battery, infotainment improvements and more – so we sent Rebecca Jackson to Sainsburys to charge one up. Oh, and do a full in-depth review along the way, including a look at interior space for families and activities, the updated infotainment system and of course driving dynamics.

Small correction at 5:26 - while yes the sliding door does cover the charging point, the ID.Buzz knows when the charging flap is open and will stop the sliding door a little earlier on the rails to avoid impact, but still let you get out with ample space.

We have Seat Alhambra. With electric sliding doors which are perfect in smaller parking spaces. It has 3 separately adjustable passenger seats, Isofix included in the third row of seats. If we fold second and third row, we have space for two adults and a dog sleeping in it. And the price is much more acceptable for family with children. I wouldn't go for ID Buzz even the price would be lower🤔

Don't have to worry about waiting list now .there are 10 2023 pre registered with delivery miles on way below book prices. I think someone is misleading the public 😢

Rear seats should be removable for extra flexibility - like they can on my 7-seater Citroen which was half the price (new)

Do they sell a 5 + 2 kids version of the standard wheel base? If not they should because the amount of legroom in the LWB is way more than an average family would need

In the real world you are going to spend a lot of time charging if your going on holiday, hope the kids like service station food! And you budget that in the cost of your trip 😀.

Its a EV that makes if F***ing useless for Camping in Far off places, 😂 So where did you plug it into in that woodland Car park. ? Too embarrassed to tell you its range, And at £70.000 pounds it’s insanity. You can actually Buy a Fully restored 1963 split screen VW camper fully kitted out for Camping for under £30, 000, No Tax and MOT free, with a long range fuel tank will get you 1000 miles, And classic insurance costs £340 a year fully comp, I know i bought one,
