Delicious & Affordable Eats ($10 and under) pt. 1 Ottawa’s Chinatown!

First up I highly recommend grabbing a three colour dessert ($3.50 - chè ba màu) for something cool and refreshing alongside a classic assorted bánh mì ($4) from Mỹ Hàng at 788 Somerset West. FYI - there are non-pork and tofu options for the bánh mì

Head slightly east down Somerset St. to Kowloon where you’ll find a bakery full of delicious Chinese pastries all under $1.99! The deep fried curry beef bun is to die for! They have a variety of sweet and savoury choices!

Continuing eastward you’ll come across Yen Fung Ding Dumpling Shoppe at 628 Somerset where you can get Shanghai pan fried dumplings (shengjianbao) for $4.99 for 4, or $9.99 for 8 with a side soup included! The dumplings don’t have soup inside but the dough and filling are so juicy and delicious they don’t even need it! The dipping sauce is so unique and I’m newly and absolutely obsessed. You can also pick up a variety of frozen dim sum from their front entry freezer to take home.
