Top 10 Games of 2018 (Retrospective) - The Broken Meeple

Continuing the Retrospective series before I head into the Top 10 of 2019 video later this month. There are too many games to play each year and I can't play them all before the end of a calendar year. So 1 year later I like to look back and see what games have faded out and which other titles have managed to earn their place in the list. Here is my Top 10 of 2018 (A Retrospective Look).

Great call on Vindication. I also missed out on it in 2018, not having heard of the Kickstarter then. But I got it this year and fell in love.

It's easy to teach, brings theme to a cube moving euro, is modular and encourages various paths to victory.

My family and I love it and so do the friends I've played it with. I consider it my top game for 2019, but it is indeed really a 2018 one. A winner in any case.

Great list, unfortunatelly didn't like Vindication that much, was really hyped after you talking so much about it but the cards swing the game way too much if you get good combos, which might just happen by chance when you draw blind. I still need to tweak the modules and see if we can mitigate that.

Great list! Love Architects, even splurged on deluxe Top Shelf token bundle for this one. Agree that 2019 has been somewhat meh for new games, I’ve been finding myself actually seeking out older games that looked more fun!

Hey, Luke. Another good video. I’m surprised you dropped the “A” in TeotihuAcan, considering you always exchange “A” for “O” in many of your words ;-) . Another great Tap 10 list! I agree that Underwater Cities is really good and the card play is very interesting (but dry) although I still prefer Terraforming Mars. It must be a Matt Damon thing! Thanks for all your hard work.

Vindication is prob my favorite game period not just 2018. A lot of variety and love the components and art. I don’t own the leaders box but I do incorporate the rules for the monster dice into the base game as it feel it balances killing monsters only.
