How to Save Money on UK or European Car Hire Rental & Avoid Scams and Traps

I recently flew up from Gibraltar to London Heathrow and rented a car to go visit a fellow YouTuber in London. I almost got scammed but managed to avoid around $1500 in extra frees and cash traps with my own 5 tips for renting a car in the UK or Europe. I also throw in a few smaller bonus tips to avoid extra charges and costs. There are many scams and traps when you rent a car in Europe. Be wise and use Wise! LOL. And always photograph your rental car BEFORE you leave and ensure that the spare tire is in the trunk/boot. Post your questions and comments and keep your wheels on the ground!

Free upgrade: If the rental comapany can not provide the vehicle you booked, they may offer you a free upgrade. So always book the smallest vehicle if thats all you need.

Before leaving, ask one of the team to check the vehicle for damage WITHOUT showing what the current damage is. Vehicle rental companies are know for missing damage from previous customers and then passing it on to you! Ask them to go over the vehicle and check the damage. 2 out 3 times they will find damage not listed. This will force the rental company to register the damage before you leave. ( I just saved you money )

Never purchase a full tank of fuel unless you intend to use it! Fill the vehicle up at the end of your rental.

Make sure to check the fuel level before driving away. This one is hit or miss. There could be plenty of fuel or just enough to make it look full.
