Here it is! The all-new 2023 Honda CR-V. It's been the flagship midsize SUV from Honda for a number of decades and has been redesigned inside and out for the 2023 model year! Under the hood of this EX-L model here in Canada is the familiar 1.5L Turbocharged Inline 4 paired with a CVT and of course AWD. Enjoy!

I've been searching forever for how the new CRV does in the snow. Thanks for showing that!

Still have my 2017 EX-L. Probably the best all-around vehicle I’ve ever owned. How Honda can squeeze out (up to) 40 mpg and still provide such peppiness is a testimony to their engineering prowess. That being said, these days it is hard to buy a bad vehicle.

A reskin is not more grown up. I had opportunity for a 22 or 23 model and went with the 2022 AWD Sport Touring Hybrid. It’s luxurious.

I still have my 2017 CR-V EXL. I still think it was the coolest-looking compact SUV on the road at the time. I can't even tell you how many problems I've had with it. The first 3 years of ownership were a nightmare. While it's doing fine mechanically (for now), I still have issues with the electronics. At lease end, I debated whether I should purchase it or turn it in, and contrary to good wisdom, I purchased it. After stories I've read, and from what I experienced, I think Honda did a lot of people dirty in the 2017-2021 model years, so I won't be going back to Honda.

What type of CVT is used? Planetary gears or cylinder/cone & band?

Any way to automatically turn off the seatbelt notification each time you turn the car on? Instead of pushing Home each time?

I have the exact model colour and everything as you see here.

Not sure you mentioned the heated steering wheel or not. It was “on” during your ride.

You did mention no “HUD” heads up display.

What this top gas model doesn’t offer is cooled seats.

I’d never want to outright pay the $52000 after tax in Manitoba for mine had I not gotten a large trade in value for my previous drive to help offset the total cost.

This 23 EXL went up $3300 from last year’s EXL. WAY WAY TOO MUCH HONDA!

Some buyers will pay this premium but a Toyota Hybrid base is $7000 less apparently according to other Canadian reviewers than this gas model.

The top 23 “Hybrid” Sante Fe Hyundai is at least $5000 less than this top of the line ONLY one 23 CRV Hybrid sold in Canada.

Honda Canada needs to adjust prices AND offer the second lower priced Hybrid like is offered in the US!

Go Ni.

Ps. A good and refreshing review done here! Keep up the good work.

Great review! I LOVE my 23 EXL crv in urban gray pearl. She drives like a dream and is so comfortable. Every detail is expertly thought of and placed. The dash is gorgeous, minimal, and practical in every sense. The only thing it's missing is a heated steering wheel, though that can be added. A pano sunroof does absolutely nothing for me as does heads up display and 360camera.i feel like those things are more just cool hat tricks than actual useful features. Also, the dependability of honda will always win me over the crazy issues and unreliability that come with hyundai/kia.

I do have issues with paint chipping on the roof and that has me bothered. I've seen a lot of complaints from all different models. I wish they would do a recall instead of us having to deal with this nightmare on our own! I've had a few Honda's and paint chipping was never a problem in the past, now it's a nightmare.

Glad you enjoyed it. I have the opposite opinion about the way it looks though. Part of the reason that I have liked my 2019 is that it looked less aggressive and more of a feminine SUV. I hate that the trend is for everything to look heavier rather than embracing that so much is offered in a small package. I really wanted to trade in this year, but I can't bring myself to part with the old design for this one.

The tail light assembly also mimics the Volvo design. The vehicle is way overpriced for its lack of horsepower & lack of torque. The new roomier cabin, deeper cargo space & sleeker design features are appreciated.

I am not trying to be rude but how can you compare their driving abilities when you never drove a previous CRV b4?

Why doesn't Honda make AWD versions in their saloon car range? I don't understand. Their competitors offer more options, not just with that powertrain. It helps with the traction big time. I love Honda but I hate it that there's not at least an option to turn the AWD on and off.

I had a 2012 CRV AWD then a 2018 BMW X1 xdrive28i just leased a 2023 CRV EX AWD. I love the comfort, fuel economy and dependability. It's great for daily use but I love performance. When lease is up I think I'm getting an Acura RDX SHAWD.

I am short at just under 5' and disabled. I drive with accommodations being a left foot pedal and spinner knob. I drive an SUV because I can't bend down to get into a standard car. That being said, in '19 or '20 they changed the tire size. Not a big deal for most people, but for me I can't comfortably get in like I can with my 2015 CRV. I have severe spasticity on my right side and hopping up isn't an option. I have to hike my right hip up to get in, but the '19 or '20 the frame was too great for me to get in. I was ssooo disappointed!!!
I am not a fan of Toyota RAV4 as I have driven in the past. It's a great vehicle, just had problems with Toyota Care and the dealer.
