Honestly the Justice League cartoon version is my favorite because he didn't just happen to lose his hand in a fight or some accident, he cut it off himself to save his son and himself. Now I don't know about you but that level of sacrifice is pretty darn heroic to me.

I always assumed he got it caught in a car door. An underwater car.

Arthur:"I need a symbol."

The stylised "A" on his belt:"Am I a joke to you?"

I remember this Aquaman so vividly, it's like he was always pissed off.

I would love to hear Aquaman to say "I don't talk to fish" in his movie.

I think the Justice League story is the best take on Aquaman loosing his had. It's a great example of sacrifice from both the perspective of a hero and father.

Personally, I liked how the hand issue went down in the Justice League cartoon. To me it seemed to have a better purpose to it - protecting an innocent. The symbol of being of both worlds thing is interesting too, but got out of hand.

I get it! It's because of the hook melting so it has no point!

the cartoon version saving his son is much more badass than the piranha river comic.

The cartoon origin is my favorite, it shows alot of what make's aquaman a great character, I'm not sure what the case is in the comics but aquaman in the cartoons (Justice league and brave and the bold) Aquaman is extremely dedicated to doing the right thing for the right things sake, he doesn't care about what others might think of because he's too busy saving his people, his friends, and his world. Others might try to find a way to avoid losing a limb at all cost, but Aquaman looks at this situation and realizes what must be done, and then does it. And in the BatB cartoon he might be alot goofier, but he takes joy in saving the world, and will often give motivational speeches to pump up his allies. Its alot diffferent from other heros who seem to have an overall goal outside of heroics, aquaman seems to be a hero because he feels it's his duty to be one.

the animated series is by far the coolest way for him loosing his hand....
but in all honestly there's so much, more to the character than him having a hook hand, im good with keeping the 2 handed aquaman

The "Pointless" pun was perfect. No need to feel bad about well fitting clever puns like that one. If it has synergy and naturally works in context, then it's actually why puns were ever good in the first place. I hate bad puns as much as the next guy, but as a writer I can't let them just die to spite Arnold&Stallone movies from the 80's/90's. So my personal rule is if you could honestly follow the pun with "No Pun Intended" then it's a worthy pun indeed.
