The Great Wall (2016) - The First Battle Against a Monster Horde

While Garin (Matt Damon) and Tovar (Pedro Pascal) find themselves in a precarious situation as captives of the mysterious Nameless Order, the massive fortification they've encountered faces an unprecedented threat. The Wall, which they initially believed to be a mere border defense, suddenly comes under siege by a monstrous horde. "The Great Wall" follows William Garin, a European mercenary who travels to China with his companion Tovar in search of gunpowder. Their journey leads them to the Great Wall, where they discover an ancient order of warriors defending humanity against savage, otherworldly creatures known as the Tao Tei. Initially skeptical, Garin becomes embroiled in the conflict, learning to fight alongside the Chinese forces and their skilled Commander Lin Mae. As the Tao Tei's attacks intensify, Garin must choose between his quest for wealth and the greater good of humanity. The film blends historical fantasy with action-packed sequences, exploring themes of trust, sacrifice, and the clash of cultures against the backdrop of a spectacular battle for survival.

Gotta love how honorable the massive horde of monsters is. They form a literal mountain to the top of the wall but then go one by one over the top to fight.

Bungie jumping from a wall to kill one beast at a time while others waste time hauling you back up might be the dumbest thing I've seen in a film.

Is it just me, Or are there crane troopers incredibly inefficient? They are going to kill at most, one beast per attack, and they seem to get picked off almost as often as they survive. We also know they don't need the crane troops to keep the beasts off the wall, because later in the movie they show the heavy infantry that hang off the wall to keep the beasts down. If the crane troopers were just also archers, they would kill way more and more likely stay alive.

I remember watching this and being like ok, cool concept. And then they made the clownish popping noise when archers shoot the eyes. Lmao, coupled with the poor crane bait it turned into a pretty good comedy. Haha, love this movie.

I love how the archers are precise enough to shoot their eyes from 1000 meters away, but once they get into close combat they can't even stab them in their weak spots.

I love the fact that the only weakness of these monsters are their eyes and the archers are precise enough to shoot only to aim their eyes

Loved that movie. Most of it didn't make much sense but it was good entertainment. What I usually call a good "Sunday afternoon popcorn movie". Sit down with a huge bowl of popcorn and just enjoy the show without thinking too much.
