I love the fact that there will finally be ONE Season winner at the end of the year instead of two split champions. Makes it so much more memorable!

So far so good, looks amazing.
But what exactly does the addition of MENA, TCL and CIS bring to the LEC, except Turkish broadcast?
They don't participate in the splits at all, only their ERL gets more coverage and is included in the tourneys for the EMEA Masters.
When LEC plays on world stage 2023, do they people from MENA, TCL and CIS really identify themselves as LEC then?

EDIT: Does this also eliminate their chances of sending a wildcard to worlds? Because basically, they don't exist anymore as they are part of LEC now.

3 splits for us to win, love to see it

I'm surprised they didn't add more teams

The team that wins EMEA should be promoted to the LEC and the team that finished the LEC worst should be relegated to EMEA. This will keep the competition in the lower leagues alive.

The format change is good, however i feel like this is a huge hit to TCL and CIS since they probably won't br able to compete at MSI and WORLDS. I also think making LEC 12 teams insted of 10 would be amazing

I love those changes!!! Only question is how the MSI representative will be chosen, winter split or spring split?

Welcome to the OGN LEC Championship 2023!

Edit: Jokes aside, this format is so much better, and LEC talent should be rewarded for experimenting with songs, skits and always nailing it.
It's their success streak that allowed for political power that could change the format even though the numbers are increasing by doing almost nothing to the league itself.

This almost exact format was battle tested by OGN in the early years and for old geezers like me, MOST WELCOME

I am ready for Europe conquer the world of League of Legends...
With these new changes I see EU getting the training they need... I mean otherwise we will never have a chance vs eastern teams.. we need more games and more practise.

but doesn't that mean most pro players from those other regions don't have a job anymore? they should have increased the number of teams to atleast 12 or something if you ask me

I mean nothing against emea being part of the LEC but when i hoped for a bigger League i thought about the amound of teams. That would be particular nice with some TCL, MENA, ... teams comming to the league. The format changes have their positive Side (Bo3, Bo5) but also their major flaws (less games for lower tier teams getting even further behind). It might be better but its still far away from perfect. We will see in less than a year if the changes are good or bad. Hopefully we get a shot at that new Summoners Cup with the energy that is brought to the league from the new regions and fans.
