In october 1962, during the Sino-Indian conflict, the Chinese People's Liberation Army deployed vast numbers of troops across the border between China and India, high up in the inhospitable Himalayas mountain range.
This was in response to an ongoing dispute with India over territory.
There had also been numerous clashes between the two sides after the Tibetan Uprising in 1959, when their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama was expelled from the country by the Chinese and offered asylum in India.
A fierce and bloody battle took place at Bum La Pass, as the Indian Army attempted to counter attack and push back the invading forces. In the middle of this conflict was an Indian Officer by the name of Joginder Singh.

There was another incident in this war which isn't mentioned in this video. An Indian Rifleman by the name of Jaswant Singh of 4th Garhwal Rifles had lost his entire platoon but he managed to hold off Chinese attacks for 48 hours by using deceptive tactics and making the Chinese think there were more Indian soldiers guarding the outpost.

Its interesting seeing subjects like this being talked about. Especially the battles that not many people have heard about, despite being heroic.

Sikhs are some of the kindest and most generous people on the entire planet but they’re also extremely fierce warriors.

My Grandad always said that the Indians (especially Sikhs) were "tough bastards". He said you would always want a Sikh regiment to take with you into battle, guarantees a victory.

"Jo bole so nihal, sat sri akal "

'Jo bole so nihaal' is a statement meaning "whoever utters (the phrase following) shall be happy, shall be fulfilled, " and the second part "sat sri akal" ("Eternal is the Great Timeless Lord")

For those who were curious. This battle cry comes from Sikhism.

Sikhs are some of the kindest people you will ever meet. They are also some of the bravest, most ferocious fighters, I would not ever mess with them.

Param Vir Chakra translates as "wheel of ultimate brave". In history, 21 were awarded, 14 of theese posthumously. Only one third of the soldiers lived through what merited this award.

Sikhs fascinate me, they’re very nice and they care deeply for humanity and caring for those that need it most and they don’t care who you are, what skin color you are, what religion you are or your nationality yet just like the Gurkhas they’re tenacious warriors.
