I’m fluent in Vietnamese and he sounds like either a person way down south or way up north attempting to speak like a baby

His pronunciation is actually quite good. I can understand 80% what he said. I’m a vietnamese btw. I don’t get why many people don’t get what he was saying

as a person born in vietnam and migrated to america and is also fluent in vietnamese, idk what he is saying but he is definitely saying something around “chúa giêsu kito” or lord jesus if anyone is wondering.

He's a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They only get 6 to 9 weeks of language training before they go on their missions, and Vietnamese is a hard language. So I think he's doing great.

So many people criticizing his Vietnamese accent. Let’s appreciate the fact that he is willing to embrace our language to spread the good news of our Lord and savior!

I could hear he said: "Xin chào, tôi tên là Sơn, tôi là một người truyền giáo của Giáo Hội Các Thánh Hữu Ngày Sau của Chúa Giê Su Ky Tô. Và mục đích của tôi là chia sẻ về Chúa Giê Su Ky Tô, vì tôi biết là Chúa Giê Su Ky Tô đang sống, và bởi vì Chúa Giê Su Ky Tô đã...." <3
Meaning "Hello, my name is Son, and I am a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. And my purpose is to share about Jesus Christ, because I know that Jesus lives, and because Jesus did...." <3

When it comes to learning Vietnamese you got a binge watch these Vietnamese shows if you want these Vietnamese people to understand you because I tried to speak Vietnamese to a Vietnamese person and they couldn't understand me no matter how I spoke it and I'm literally speaking their language!

Like you got to make sure your accent and your tones are nearly PERFECT if you want Vietnamese people to understand you, it's not like many other languages where you can get away with sounding like a baby and they can still understand you.

Vietnamese comes with a lot of sounds and a couple of tones, you got to watch shows with Vietnamese dub and you gotta keep learning how to speak it if you want Vietnamese people to understand you eventually

As someone who worked with missionaries like him I can translate foreigner Viet

Hello
My name is Son I am a missionary of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints and my purpose is jesus christ I know he lives because he…

His pronunciation is someone that started learning. Some people like him cant sound like native because of the accents. Also the words he used are what in the church you would understand versus if you just heard it you would need someone to explain some of the words he used.

Not bad for only having 9 weeks of language training at the start of his missionary service.

As a Viet fluent in both languages, I can fully fathom what he is saying without understanding the background of himself as a missionary whatsoever. Those Viet saying they can't get what he says is nonsensical.

This sounds like the heaviest and most rural accent from the depths of Central Vietnam, really distorted pronunciation
