I remember 35-40 years ago we had one of these on the farm. We cut about a million hedge (osage orange) posts with it. Seemed to do much better than a traditional chain saw in it. When we retired and auctioned everything off it went on the sale. Boy I wish I woulda kept it just to have.

Love it, have the same saw, mine needs prayer and a engine, and another that runs, great saws.

Long time ago I collected old saws, got 'em runnin' & cut with 'em. Still have some but quickly decided I had lost my humor workin' 'em.

That is different for sure. seems it would make for a long day using it compared to a chainsaw. Would sure love to have it tho. I recently got a Mall 2MG and told the wife when I get it shining again I'm gonna make a headboard for our bed with it in the middle as a display.

The saw had it's uses. In niche applications like cutting up meat in a slaughter house or cutting ice blocks it was great. If you don't care how rough the cut is then a chainsaw is better.

Does it use any form of oiler? Or no? Would love to get a weight saw super rebel some day.

This is not a replacement for a chainsaw.

This barsaw excels at:

1) Cutting meat (thin kerf... less waste)

2) Vertical wood cutting (not horizontal like this guy is doing)

3) Cutting dry lumber, like fence posts and beams, where you want a straight cut

The only reason they are temperamental is because they are very old.

These saws ran great for their first tenure, you can't expect any 60 year old gas saw to run A1 without a total overhaul.

They are as safe or safer than a chainsaw... they cut, not rip. The blades were very cheap ($1.50), very easy to change, very easy to sharpen.

Never understand why people move the saw around so much, the chain is moving, you don't have to move the saw. It's especially dumb with a reciprocating saw, the saw is already moving back and forth.
Just but the damn thing up against the log so the saw and pull against itself.
Sawing a power saw back and forth doesn't do anything except slow down the cut and make you look like a dumbass.
