PART I: This video depicts a medical resident demonstrating an average/"needs improvement" example of screening and brief intervention for substance use with a patient who has high blood pressure.

All patients portrayed in the MD3 SBIRT videos are actors and the cases and substance use examples are fictional. These videos were created for the training of medical residents, medical faculty, and other clinicians to learn SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment) for substance abuse.

The University of Maryland, Baltimore's MD3 SBIRT Medical Residency Training Initiative is funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
