People are wondering why the Judge isn't doing anything. She's doing two things. First, ensuring that the man has nothing that could get him an appeal. Second, she's letting his own actions condemn him. The jury are seeing his laugh, showcasing no regret.

He was soooo angry that she told that for the record. He processed it in extreme anger and then realized where he was again and had to go with laughter as a last ditch effort to defend himself.

I believe this witness just based on Brooks’s reaction. If Brooks never said to Erika “I’m going to find you and kill you” and this witness completely made it up, Brooks would be outraged and angry. He wouldn’t laugh. It’s such an odd reaction given that he’s already displayed how easily he gets angry and just how enraged he becomes. He wouldn’t laugh, he would be furious. So to me, his reaction confirmed that the witness is telling the truth.
