Decarbonising maritime transport - a new future for Belfast shipbuilding

This project’s goal is to help make #Belfast the advanced maritime manufacturing capital of the world. It is building on the city’s proud shipbuilding heritage and local research and innovation excellence to make #NorthernIreland the global leader in #ZeroEmissions maritime technology.

Led by Artemis Technologies, a spin-off from America's Cup team Artemis Racing, it is developing wind-electric hybrids for maritime vessels and setting up a zero-emissions ferry pilot scheme in Belfast.

The project will help tackle major environmental challenges while developing an education programme and up to 1,000 jobs by 2034. The project will reinvigorate the maritime cluster in Belfast, involve public and private partners and has the potential to change maritime transportation forever.
