Kellogg so thoroughly believed in a disciplined life of abnegation that he pushed Corn Flakes cereal as part of that lifestyle. Like he was basically telling people to eat his cereal because it was bland and tasteless.

Also remember that he supported circumcision as a way to prevent masturbatory urges.
