As a Filipino, I must admit. I am envious of Vietnam. They are really serious about economic growth, while Filipinos recently elected a kleptocrat hailing from a political dynasty. Now, inflation keeps on rising in our country and most people are having difficulties in accessing basic commodities and goods. It's infuriating. Mad respect to Vietnam and this milestone.

Good for Vietnam to finally gain some aid for itself, what with all the wars and political strive that have gone through it historically for hundreds of years, I'm glad its at least having some better time financially. I am 38 years old, when I was a student in middle school and high school or even university, I heard every year that the growth rate of my country was above 10%, when a country is poor, it is very easy to achieve a high growth rate, but when your GDP per capita is above 7000 USD, the growth rate would go down, like what happened in Thailand, Malaysia, and many south American countries. So it is not a surprise to make such a number, the hardest thing is:1 improve GDP per capita from 1000 to 10000usd, 2, increase this number from 10000 to 20000usd. The four Asian tigers on average use 13-18 years to finish task 1 and another 13-18 years to finish the second task. Then see what did you do in your country.

Vietnam focused on labour intensive sectors. While India focused on hi tec manufacturing like mobile and IT based services. Thus Vietnam experienced an inclusive development with employment generation. While India experienced growth without sufficient employement

As a Tibetan living in Dharamshala with the opportunity to observe Indians at close quarters, I say India is not aggressive and sincere enough to attract factories relocating from China. Compared to South East Asian nations, India still has archaic labour laws dating from colonial times, crumbling infrastructure, poorly skilled workforce and above all, extremely high tariffs to be attractive in luring foreign manufacturers
