‘God on my side’: Donald Trump recounts 'painful’ experience during assassination attempt

Former US president Donald Trump recounts the story which is “too painful to tell” after surviving an attempted assassination at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

Donald Trump accepted his party’s nomination on the final day of the Republican National Convention and spoke for the first time since his assassination attempt.

“I immediately knew it was very serious, that we were under attack,” Mr Trump said during his speech at the Republican National Convention.

“And in one movement, proceeded to drop to the ground; bullets were continuing to fly as very brave Secret Service agents rushed to the stage.

“There was blood pouring everywhere and yet in a certain way, I felt very safe because I had god on my side – I felt that.”

Never did much like HOW he presents his arguments. Hes crass, undeniably rude, and openly gives no Regard of suffering beyond just border security.

But never, not once, have I ever wanted nor ever supported notions of harming him. Disagreeable as he can be: Hes still an American citizen with ALL the rights and protections to expression that come with that.

And the attempt on his life truely shocked me. One of those things you pray-god NEVER comes to pass, and his manuver that got his ear grazed truely saved his life. And not only did he get back up, , blood gushing from his face, he defiantly screamed to keep fighting.
I think for MANY naysayers, an important realization finally sank in that day: Hes still just a human being doing what he believes is right by his ideals. Hes no impossible person, not unapproachable. Hes just an old man with convictions well beyond his years.

We have seen the creciendo of the anger in our hearts that saturday, being literally a Hairs-bredth away from a Civil war breaking out then and there. And we need to start thinking how to better unify our nation with courage and understanding.

Though the future truely is unknowable, and should another attempt be made, I pray god his luck hasent run out yet.

One thing here that does speak volumes of a change: Hes been humbled in THE most dramatic way. His defiance burns still, but I believe his temperment has been forcibly quelled from that event.
Maybe his next presidency, he'll lessen the intentional provokations and focus on actual work in the oval office. Less speeches, DEFINATELY less leisure, triple the work.
