One of my teachers growing up once explained this concept. He used the example of a hamburger. Think of all the things that go into making a burger. All of the ingredients have to be shipped to a restaurant, probably via road transport. So you have a truck driver that’s hauling a trailer full of meat that will be used to make hundreds if not thousands of burgers. And on their way there, they probably stop somewhere to grab a burger to eat. That burger he ate was made possible by another truck driver transporting meat to the restaurant, and that truck driver very well may have also had a burger on his way, and so on and so forth.

Majored in supply chain management in college because that kind of thing stuck with me and fascinated me.
