The Best PC Monitor in the World?

I give my thoughts on what is probably going to be the best PC monitor in the world, the Sony BVM-HX3110.

I never comment on your stuff because I know how obstinate you can be but this one was so baffling I couldn't resist. More than any of the other videos on your channel, this one demonstrates a complete lack of understanding and appreciation for application-specific use cases and how they affect control parameters and performance. First of all, macOS doesn't output HDR to anything other than the Pro Display XDR, yes all current Apple displays support a modified version of DCI-P3 that’s wider than Rec.709 however none of their notebook displays are actually capable of displaying the full Rec.2020 color gamut which is the key feature of all HDR-capable displays, not necessarily its ability to properly display every highlight and shadow detail. The MacBook Pro itself isn't even a 4K screen and you'd need several adapters to properly output a PC video signal to this thing at all, nevermind HDR.

Second, the comparisons aren't fair whatsoever. Ignoring the fact that you're comparing a mastering monitor 2x the size and 10x the price of a computer with a display module that likely costs around $200-300 wholesale (the idea of which I can only assume stemmed from unchecked privilege), older OLED panels' inability to reach 1000 nits of peak brightness isn't really a factor to consider when viewing in a darker or light-controlled room (like any color suite or home theater) because the viewer is more likely to notice low black levels than low contrast levels. In fact, you'd be surprised how much HDR content is mastered or at the very least A/B'd, on professionally calibrated LG consumer OLEDs for the simple reason that it's what most people will be using to view the content at home. Fan noise ruining the "viewing experience" is irrelevant because this product isn't designed for playback or consumer use, it's meant for mission-critical mastering applications - much like studio monitors, the objective isn't to provide an "experience"; it's to highlight every potential imperfection so the engineer can fix them, because when you're on the clock in a production house you're not being paid to sit back and consume content on the best gear possible. The only reason HDTVTest even posts comparisons with mastering monitors like these to begin with is to demonstrate how much we're closing the gap between their capabilities and that of consumer displays. Can you use an industrial oven to reheat leftovers? Sure, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good idea.

I strongly encourage you to educate yourself on these highly technical topics before forming such strong opinions and making such outrageous declarations. It will only serve to increase your credibility, which this most certainly does not.

the only good opinion you ever had is "audio devices should sound as close to irl sound as possible to be good" I'm only here for the bait now 💀

it's not really a concern, haloing, as the human eye naturally has halos.

Samsung XMP550 is a better display than the Sony BVM-HX3110 in terms of pixel response and color accuracy. The Sony reference display has higher peak brightness though. Neither are BT.2100 full spec (10, 000 nits), so there's still some room for improvement in the space.

Interesting topic to be interested in!

Bro are you kidding? This is a mastering monitor worth thousands of dollars. The perfection in picture quality should be obvious here. This isn't for regular consumers. Why would you even compare this with OLED TVs or MacBook screens!?🥲
