Showcasing the host's culture is one thing, but I expected to at least see the participating teams being introduced, a few speeches, maybe some flag hoisting and putting the Auld Mug on display.

From a distance the stage looked like a petroleum refinery. Sitting on the beach watching the big screen, I missed a lot of the spectacle. The music wasn’t my thing. Boring. Although I liked the drones, I left after 20 minutes. Disappointed.

Do you really want me to believe that this was the opening ceremony of the Americans Cup? This as a ceremony for anything else in Barcelona would be fine... but for the American Cup, no joke. This was a Barcelona musical and little else.

I did not see anything related to a sailing competition, neither showing the trophy nor any representative by ETNZ or INEOS, just "funny" and disgraceful at the same time.

Sorry didn't understand any of it, might have been fantastic if I understood even some of it. As a Kiwi and we have put money into the defense of the ole mug I hope none of it went towards this most interesting part of the cup. Should have been held in NZ. SORRY Grant Dolton but big mistake. 😢
