Drop bears are very much like Jagulars, who sit up in trees and holler "HallooOOOOoooo!" and when you look up, they drop on you.

I've always had this idea that the drop bear was the Thylacoleo, as it was a close relative to koalas and hunted in trees. To someone in fear, what's not to say they wouldn't mistake it for a koala?
