Drop Bear - The Killer Koala of Australian Folklore

The Drop Bear is a fictional creature from Australian folklore, portrayed as an aggressive, carnivorous relative of the koala. It is said to hide in trees and attack unsuspecting people by dropping on them from above. Mostly used to scare tourists, the Drop Bear is an example of Australian legends.

Drop bears are very much like Jagulars, who sit up in trees and holler "HallooOOOOoooo!" and when you look up, they drop on you.

I've always had this idea that the drop bear was the Thylacoleo, as it was a close relative to koalas and hunted in trees. To someone in fear, what's not to say they wouldn't mistake it for a koala?
