36-42" long. Aluminum or stainless steel pipe walking cane, grabber. Should be HD like the Unger, but jaws stay closed while walking. Maybe use steel cable inside. Squeeze handle to open it with strong spring, will automatically hold onto objects like 15oz canned soup, tree limb, whatever, squeezing makes jaws open. Rwplaceable rubber tips for walking with grip texture. Metal reinforced with jagged biters like Unger. Old folks need something like this. Every day purpose, hold weight to 400lb as walkint cane, use to reach objects from up high, etc. Could weight up to 3lb.

Good build! …but pvc? I’m going for all metal. I’m going to use your idea but with salvaged parts. The claw scissoring mechanism from a hanging baby bouncer( it’s used to grip the top of a doorway), salvaged security cable( it’s almost the same as bike brake cable), and other parts I’ve hoarded. I hope it turns out as nice as yours. 👍👍

Did you also use aluminum "threaded post with screws" to attach the 90 degree aluminum pieces and if so what size pins did you use? Half inch pins?

It sturdy and would last for years cerise store brought but at the prices of aluminum and pvc now it’s cheaper to buy a decent throw away pickup for cheaper. I went through these from picking up dead rats and random trapped dead animals

Have you tried making this with four grabber fingers instead of only two? I've seen one but cant figure it out as the hinges are crossed somehow.
