The stunning Wallaman Falls is just a one-hour drive inland from the sugarcane town of Ingham, and about 2.5 hours north-west from Townsville, in the World Heritage Wet Tropics. This waterfall is located within the Girringun National Park.
Wallaman Falls has to be one of the top hikes in Australia. This is definitely a bucket list item for Australian travel.

Wallaman Falls Hike (Djyinda walk) Overview:
• Length: 3.2 km return
• Descent: 228 metres
• Difficulty: Moderate (steep)
• Duration: 1 – 2 hours
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As well as Wallaman Falls, there are many stunning waterfalls in the North Queensland region. If you don’t live in the region, you can perhaps go on a North Queensland road trip, visiting the countless incredible waterfalls found in the region. If you live in Townsville, Ingham or other surrounding towns, you can day trip to the breathtaking Wallaman Falls like Lawrence and I did.
You will very likely see the beautiful cows as you make your way along Wallaman Falls Road. Be sure to drive carefully, as cows commonly roam on the road.
As you draw closer to Girringun National Park, keep your eyes peeled and you might see the endangered southern cassowaries that wander near the road. We sadly did not get to see any cassowaries – however we did manage to see a Dingo running along the side of the road! Another reason to drive carefully through these roads.
North Queensland travel has so much to offer, and Wallaman Falls is just one among many breathtaking sights to see.
Thank you SO MUCH for watching!
