I went from an m4 to an rs3 and I didn't have any problems I'm 5' 11" you cant compare a stock car to a tuned one that makes no sense.

Basically at the end of the day the money you lost on the gulf are and the money you're losing on the R3 is basically called a stupid tax and everybody pays it at some point in their life hopefully this is the only big mistake you make

I just got my RS3 3 weeks ago. I LOVE everything about it

Like you said.. I noticed a lot of the things you were complaining about are nit picky.. You are a tall person so it is going to be different than most as far as head room etc. As far as 1/4 mile times, you're comparing a stock car to a tuned E85 car. your golf was on E and only ran .15 faster than the rs3. If you tuned the rs3 on E.. just stage 1 fully stock you'll run 11.2's .. Ask me how I know.. I have one. just an 8V.5.

Definitely a small car for a dude that’s six six lol

The car is not broken in. My 2022 S3 is faster than my 2023 Golf R. My Golf has only 3K miles on it. S3 has 17K miles on it. I noticed that once S3 had 5K+ miles on it, it started pulling a lot harder. Your car only has a couple of hundred miles on it. Don't beat it up yet and start launching it. Just drive it normal/mellow for a couple of thousand miles and let the engine components loosen up. Regarding your overall feelings, you may be going through "buyer's remorse". It happens all the time. Only time can tell. RS3 is a bad-ass car and way better than Golf R (in my opinion). I own one (Golf R) and have driven the other (broken in RS3).

The only reasons you buy this car, whether its the 8y or 8v, is the engine and drivetrain. The potential of the 5 cylinder plus the awd system is incredible. Plus, the sound of the 5 cylinder is one of the greatest engine sounds. If you arent tuning and doing bolt ons youre wasting your time. IROZ is already doing crazy things with this model

Did you not test drive the rs3 first? Just curious why if you loved the golf R you were so quick to jump into an rs3?

I’m curious to know what age group your audience is… most of the things you’re complaining about are obviously preference but you’re also complaining about things that make me scratch my head. At the end of the day, I’ve driven the Golf R and I would never trade in my 8Y RS3 for it. Most of us wouldn’t neither.

I’m happy with my RS3 that I’ve only invested $1500 on and now have 480whp on JB4 E30. Stop complaining and go back to a Golf R, they’re available everywhere and cut your monthly expenses buddy.

Audi 3 series cars have always felt small and cramped. It’s a reminder to test drive cars thoroughly. I made the same mistake of buying a car without a full proper test drive. Also, it’s funny people saying tune a brand new luxury car. Id be worried about nading the warranty.

I have a 2018 RS3 and respect what you are saying for sure. I am 5'9" so can't relate to alot of your problems with feeling cramped. I am not sure anything you do this car will make it more comfortable for you 😞

e85 golf R might have spoiled you 😀. Stage 1 E85 Uni on RS3 will put you at 592hp btw.

I think once your break in period is over and you can get on it more (in cold weather preferably) you will enjoy it more. Modify the midpipes first thing, I think the 8Y seems to be much quieter than the 8V generation, and its not letting that 5 cylinder shine.
and unfortunately I think that's really what it comes down to with the RS3, you paid a premium for that 5 cylinder engine. For me the noises and feeling from the engine really added excitement to my drive over my previous GTI.

Almost any German car can get to similar power levels as stock RS3 with a tune, but the way the 5 cyl puts that power down with attitude is probably the reason I can't sell it.
Hope you are able to find some joy in the ownership! But if its not the right car for you I am sure others will be happy to pick that car up close to what you paid for, and you can get the right car for you.

So the quarter mile difference with E85 tuned R is .15s and 1mph? And you could feel that? Plus you get to do this with a 5yr warranty? In a car that retains its value very well? With an amazing sounding 5 cylinder? And crazy tuning potential once the ECU is unlocked? Yes, you’re definitely screwed man 🤣

I’ve a 7.5 manual R and thinking about getting an 8Y RS3 or RS5 coupe. I’m also not 6’6 so shouldn’t be a problem. RS3 does look kinda bland and RS5 doesn’t drive as good as RS3 and is quieter, much heavier. RS5 coupe with the 5 cylinder would’ve been a no brainer.

You’re still young my guy, you’ll bounce back from this. I’d probably hold onto the car for a little bit so the initial sting of depreciation settles and when you’re not so much under water on it, then trade it in and maybe get back into a Golf R or replace it with something with a little utility. I currently own an M2 and a Tesla MYP. M2 is the fun car, Tesla is the commuter, grocery hauler with a nice 0-60. Awesome combo with both cars imo.

On my second RS3. Not meant to be kept stock which is well known. Can’t complain when you can run 10s as soon as unitronic is ready.

I have a Golf R and my friend has an RS3, in addition to the things you mentioned, some of the differences where I thought the Golf R was better were:

Golf has a nicer steering wheel (flat bottom, heated, dimpled only at the grips so there is some visual/textural contrast).

Golf has more settings for things and more customizations of the instrument cluster.

The ambient lighting is nicer in the Golf (all of the light strips are tucked away instead of the very visible white strips in the RS3).

Golf has ventilated seats but the RS3 seats are much nicer.

Golf has room for a spare tire.

I did like the seating position in the RS3 better, I felt a bit more connected to the car but I'm short so that may have something to do with it, the Golf seats don't really hold me in very well and it feels more like a small SUV.

Hindsight is 20/20, the cheaper car will always feel like the better buy and our minds are programmed to find mistakes. I think you will come to appreciate your RS3 over time, it's an awesome ride. If not, just a learning experience (even if it's an expensive one lol). I just bought a base model 2024 GTI and love it, but my dream car someday is an R or one of these RS3s.

Some folks might think it’s a negative video but, you spent your coin on it and gave a point of view coming from a hatchback into a sport compact sedan as a bigger guy. I think for you’re size, if you where gonna do it again I would have gone for the S4 or S5 sportback.

I know it’s not the RS line but I think that space and comfort you’re after from a VW hatch (I’ve had a Mk1-5) you would have felt in a 4 series Audi. I’m a little over 6ft myself and in any 4 series and up I have felt as comfortable as a gti or golf hatchback. But 3 series is tiny. Look into an S4 or S5 sportback if you want to stick Audi. If you really want RS5 sportback is one fun ride! But I’m also a longtime VW/Audi guy so I may be biased 😅

bro your 6'6 and bought an RS3, like what do you expect. It's a great performance car buy maybe you should have bought an RSQ8 for your height.
