Eszter Balint: 'Exit At 63,' Live On Soundcheck

You might know Eszter Balint as the charming Hungarian girlfriend of Louis C.K.'s alternate character in the F/X series Louie. In arguably one of the most endearing moments of the series, Balint's character plays violin with Louie's daughter in the stairwell of their apartment complex. What made the scene particularly enchanting was Balint's violin melody - one that she composed herself.

Balint is a long-time musician; she's been making music since her early teen years. She grew up with in an avant-garde theater family in New York. Moving from Hungary when Balint was 11, the family would perform from their storefront on W. 23rd. You can sense the deep-rooted European influences in Balint's music but her newest album Airless Midnight sounds more Sleater-Kinney than Eastern-Euro folk. She effortlessly combines the raw elements of punk and rock with a gentle sophistication.
