I think you glossed over why the radius is not also -6. I did not find your explanation that it is a distance, and therefore it must be positive, compelling. Please elaborate.

to find radius that simply meant square root of the given area .... square root 36 is 6 ... for diameter 2(6) = 12 right?

I was given a problem to find the radius using the area given, I was given 175 as my area and I put in 175 sqrd and I got 13 (radius) but that wasn't the right answer, I was told the right answer was 7. I don't get what went wrong.

I'm a little confused. Why did you do 36 pi= pi x r^2? I thought it would've just been 36=pi x r^2...
