the fact is not everyone have the opportunity . here most courses are for something like coaching or any other academic . ECs are very less in our area except for football and karate . and the fact its oversaturated and don't have no scope and value abroad

I am from India and in our schools only grades matter no activities no clubs nothing and even internship isn't possible i learned swimming and drawing till class 7 but no way to prove it tho only grades matter here and now i am currently studying 11 how am i supposed to even learn new skills or even do community work.. I want to join IVY leagues but ig it's too late

For community based projects, let’s say someone decided to teach something and someone else decided to teach something else, but one of them started it as a business of sort and charged some money while the other did it completely free, is there a difference in how important that becomes? What do you recommend?

I write poems as i am passionate about writing, my poems can be published at 9-10th grade school level books. Can this be count as an extracurricular activity?.

Great advice! I’m a junior in high school, and I’m currently trying to secure and organize my top 3 extracurriculars. My narrative/spike aims itself around visual arts, as well as promoting the representation and importance of handicapped individuals. My planned Ecs are as follows:

1. Founder of a Nonprofit to help support and spread awareness of the special needs in our society through various activities (sports, arts, academics, etc…)
2. Authored, illustrated, and published a children’s book themed around handicapped acceptance and awareness
3. Passion project research on how visual arts can serve as a means of effective communication for those who have difficulties speaking and disorders in which prohibit traditional speech.

I have a few other high ranking ecs, but these are the ones I have the most progress on. I just wanted to ask if Im on the right track, and if I continue developing my ecs, will they have a chance of being competitive when applying to high ranking schools, or should I maybe focus on doing something else to further expand the depth and range of my application while I still have time? I apologize for the length of this message, but I was really curious to see a another person’s opinion. 🙂

This is really sad. You should be doing these out of pure passion and the pursuit of knowledge, instead of just doing it for the sake of a portfolio.
