She makes an excellent point that many people don't realize. A photograph in and of itself is not a representation of reality. A photo captures and freezes a single moment in time. That's not how we experience reality. And we don't experience perfect lighting everywhere we go. We don't view things with a super blurry background behind it. We don't only look at people at the most flattering angle. Camera lenses also distort the scene/subject. No camera sensor or film perfectly recreates the color in a scene. And like she said, as any photographer will tell you, we often wade through and trash hundreds of shots to find the best few. So before a photo is ever opened in Photoshop it has been "edited" in many ways.

Bottom line. The parents have the biggest responsibility to teach their children. But you can't teach them everything. At some point you have to let them experience life and let life teach them too. Just hope you have given them the basics to build from and cope with life.
