Behold the 1st images from NASA's James Webb Space Telescope!

The wait is finally over.

The team behind NASA's James Webb Space Telescope released some of the first images from the much-anticipated observatory on Friday (Feb. 11). The main photo, which doesn't even hint at the power Webb will bring to the universe once it's fully operational, shows a star called HD 84406 and is only a portion of the mosaic taken over 25 hours beginning on Feb. 2, during the ongoing process to align the observatory's segmented mirror.

Why do people use reader programs instead of just recording their own voices?

I believe the Webb can be serviced (including refueling) by astronauts if ever necessary or desired. (in 20 years may be a better telescope devised) It took an hour to get into earth orbit to 'fix' the Hubble and it will take one month to get into L2 orbit to reach Webb. Just lots of fuel to go there and back. But still less than required for a moon landing and vastly simpler as well.

I'm still trying to figure out why the public does not have access to all of the content from any telescope or camera's... If the public paid for it, wouldn't all the content be owned by the public??? I don't mean just show us what you think we should see oh great and powerful nasa filter. The pictures from this are going to be the best humanity has ever witnessed. I hope they have enough respect for the people who flip the bills to show us everything no matter what we find out in the vastness of

Love Jwsp, and I'm sure we'll see some amazing images, but they could have kept this one. I could have done just as well with black paper and white satin paint spatter. I'm sure it will get better.
