Join Golden Globe winner and renowned actor, producer, author and musician Johnny Depp and Origins Project director Lawrence Krauss for An Origins Project Dialogue, Finding the Creativity in Madness.

This dialogue is associated with a closed scientific workshop in partnership with the National Institutes of Health held to spark discussions of big, unanswered questions on how the brain and machines process patterns, aimed at understanding consciousness, intelligence, and madness.

This on stage discussion focuses on the humanity of madness, revealing Depp's experience and creative method as an actor who has portrayed such eccentric fictional and nonfictional characters as Edward Scissorhands, Hunter S. Thompson, Captain Jack Sparrow, and John Wilmot, Second Earl of Rochester while exploring and unraveling the intricate links between creativity and madness.

The fact that Johnny Depp spent $3 million giving Hunter a proper sendoff by shooting his ashes out of a giant cannon, and honoring his friends wishes, back in 2005, make Depp cool with me forever, no matter what.

"he invited me to his house that night and.. we were spending time together" spending time together is obviously code for ingesting copious amounts of drugs

I think an audio book of one of Hunters books read by Johnny would literally be one of the greatest blessings ever bestowed upon mankind

I'm not even a gun nut, but shooting propane tanks and nitroglycerin with Hunter Thompson and Johnny Depp sounds like the best experience ever

Johnny Depp deserved to win an Oscar for his role in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Fear and Loathing is a movie with 40 or 50 mini movies within it because each scene is something unto itself. It’s highly underrated

I could listen to Johnny tell stories forever and never get tired of it.

You can tell he misses him a lot. His face lights up whenever he talks about him.

Depp's performance in Fear & Loathing is some of the finest acting in cinema history, second only to his brilliant turn in Ed Wood. So weird, bold, and strange, yet warm and endearing. Unlike the safe, boring, cookie cutter garbage we get today.

Those men were kindred spirits to say the least. They could pass for father and son. They even look, act and sound alike. Depp was perfect for the role.

How cool that Johnny called Hunter a conductor, and that was the final word Hunter typed on his typewriter before he left this world.

When the trial's over, I seriously want to see Johnny Depp come back to play Hunter S. Thompson in his final years. That would be a surreal but awesome film!

What is most amazing about this video is that it is evidence that Krauss can be quiet for more than 20 seconds, while not talking over the other person...

Can Johnny Depp still do a Johnny Depp impression?

The conducting bit sounds exactly like something Hunter would do lol

I'm a Depp fan, but people need to remember Hunter was turned up to 11 all by himself. Being a good friend to Hunter is straight-up cool, and I respect the sh1t out of Johnny, but Hunter was unique and magnificent and uncompromising all by himself. Hunter is the Muhammad Ali of living by your own rules. As Mike Tyson said about Ali; "Ali's a giant... no other fighter can match him... he died for this sh1t!"... Hunter died for his lifestyle. That's gangster...
