It should be noted that even if you are a CG or stop motion animator, drawing skills are still incredibly useful, because you need to be able to plan what you animate first. And the best way to plan animation and search for poses is just to quickly draw the character

Neat! I just found out the type of animation that I've been doing is motion graphics. Thanks for this video

I really want to become an animator. This video was really fascinating. One day I hope I'll also do something great like this...

I got really into this video. Then came the inescapable royalty-free Ukulele music.

im currently studying animation and they teach us all these types, but i personally prefer traditional or 2d animation because i feel drawing is one of my stronger skills. However, my favourite form of animation is a mixture of traditional, 2d, and 3d witch actually, wasn't mentioned in this video. this form of animation is mostly used an Japanese films or some newer anime. in this form of animation, the characters are animated traditionally then translated to computers to be coloured and edited digitally. still backgrounds are almost always hand painted traditionally or digitally, and backgrounds that move or rotate are made in 3d. some moving objects, plants, and people moving in the background are also animated in 3d. then finally everything everything everything is composited together and special effects are added in.

That royalty free music kills me inside

Occasionally, you will have certain types of animation combined. CGI used in Attack On Titan worked surprisingly well in a 2D environment. If anything, it worked to give the scenes a sense of unnerving action that totally worked for a show about giant, hideous creatures that eat humans and have completely unknown origins. Nice video!

I'm going to school for 3D animation, but we have learned the basics of traditional and 2D animation. The only thing we will not learn in my program which is one of my life goals to learn and create, is stop-motion. Whether it's with moldable clay or hard puppets, it creates an almost disjointed and eerie result

I'm more of a traditional animator, but instead of drawing over and over again I copy and paste my frames over and over again.

For 3d art and animation, there is artistic skill required for modeling the mesh, texturing/sculpting phase, and even for animation. People are too quick to dismiss 3d animation as "the computer does it all". That's far from the truth. The computer can aid in a lot of things, but you need solid artists behind it all for it to look good.

Maya is a really hard 3-D animation program. I took the basic Maya class in my college. But I wasn't allowed to be a Digital Animation major because I had already completed a degree in Visual arts and the college won't let you dual major or get a second degree. I find this very stupid because you need to know how to draw to create any type of animation and having a visual arts degree makes you so much better at digital animation.
