How I Got Scammed Twice: Love Scammers' Tactics You Need To Know

‘Kelly’ was a financial consultant who fell victim to two ‘pig-butchering’ scams - a mash-up of romance and investment scams run by Asia-based syndicates. Both were men she met on Instagram and then chatted with on WhatsApp. She lost a total of about S$35,000 to them.

Though she was wary after the first scam, she reveals how the second scammer got past her guard with emotional and psychological manipulation. He even spoke to and got close to her kids. He only brought up an investment ‘proposal’ two months into their online relationship.

By sharing her story, ‘Kelly’ hopes to warn people that even educated or financially savvy professionals may be taken in. She now volunteers with the Global Anti-Scam Organization (GASO) to expose scammers and help victims.

The lesson in such a case: Never mix dating with money transaction and investment. You can pay the restaurant bills taxi or even drinks if you wish, but nothing beyond that. You are either going out on date or you want to meet someone for business opportunity. Do not mix dating and business. Downright impolite.

These scammers should leave behind their evil ways and become dating coaches.

I am hiding my identity as well. I was love scammed. I was very lonely, suffering from depression and grief. It’s easy to judge others. But when isolation and depression kick in, it’s another story. You get a high from someone actually saying how much they love you. Something you are actually seeking and there it is.
Depression- anxiety-isolation got in the way of my better judgment. I actually fell in love with one scammer. Which is highly out of the normal relationship I usually have. I finally woke up. I wanted the attention from the alleged celebrity. Because I admired him very much. I got sucked in real hard real fast. Now they have my identity and information. I hope to get the help I need severely. I have sought therapy.

The moment a stranger started talking about investment, alarm bells should ring already.

I appreciate the knowledge you dropped on us. As someone curious about recovery, I like that you show tools you use to investigate a company before coming to a decision. It's already a difficult decision to make and game to play, and with someone showing the world techniques to protect themselves, this knowledge is invaluable.
Thanks for taking out the time to share this with the YouTube world. We love you

The scammer only works against people who are in desperate need of love.

Some people are genuinely stupid. Someone who you meet online and asks you to invest should be a big red flag, not to mention she is a financial advisor that didn't learn a lesson after being scammed the first time.

It takes a lot of courage for one to admit one’s mistakes or point of weakness to others. I salute to her.
In real truth, I believe really wealthy or giga rich people won’t use instagram or Facebook or any online platform to advertise their lives. They will prefer their privacy and keep their own lives safe

*Universal Dispute* Very satisfying to see you be successful.
I was thinking that it may be hard for some people to accept your help as some of what you to to help them is the same as the scammer did to steal from them.
Keep up the fantastic work, I actually had a tear in my eye at the end, seeing my lost money been recover back to my account, You're the best man. Keep doing what you're doing sooner or later they're gonna stop scamming for good.

When things are too good to be true… Too caring… Too ideal… You know it should be a scam! When during the old days, my mum would tell me don’t anyhow talk to strangers! Now, it’s another era in which don’t anyhow talk to strangers online! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I value the information you dropped on us. As somebody inquisitive about recuperation, I like that you show devices you use to examine an organization prior to coming to a choice. It's now a hard choice to make and game to play, and with somebody showing the world procedures to safeguard themselves, this information is important.
Gratitude for getting some margin to impart this to the YouTube world. We love you

It's weird for someone to tell you to put money on an investment app a few weeks or a few months after you started dating. But I guess the scammers sniffed out the fact that she doesn't have a good sense of boundaries and take risks with money if it could earn her more money.
