Hey guys! Here is another long awaited episode of Create This Book 2! The series where I fill in my own, original prompt book with my artwork. Create This Book is a great way to get art ideas if yo are a beginner artist, or just looking to have a break, get inspiration and have fun with your art. It’s really easy to follow along and helps a lot with artist’s block and coming up with fresh new art ideas. It’s a great activity to do when you’re bored at home or a creative activity to do with friends and family.

Today I am going to be practicing my people drawing skills. I took a long break from drawing people and I’ve definitely got a long way to go now. I’m mainly focused on drawing people with colored pencils, but I’m thinking maybe digital art would be a good way to get some practice? IDK. There are definitely some struggles, and the art isn’t perfect, but I hope you enjoy watching me make art anyway.

Hey! my name is Moriah (pronounced muh-rye-yuh 😂 ) and this is my channel....obviously. I'm 25 and like doing anything creative...and being snarky.....just a lil. I make a lot of decorating and painting videos here. I'm obsessed with editing and adding lil bits to my videos, so if that's not your thing....oof you may hate this haha. I paint on squishies, thrift store finds, and other random things I pick up. I also love to draw, but don't expect anything too skilled, I'm not the best at that haha. You will also find occasional crafting/testing crafting kits on my channel which are always a hot mess. And even some baking (REALLY bad at that, but it's fun to try LOL).

I used to avoid drawing people all the time, but then I realized I wouldn’t improve at drawing people if I never drew them. So, I made up a challenge for myself: I drew 100 character designs (human/humanoid) using three prompts per design. A keyword, a song, and a color palette. When I started this challenge I was awful at drawing people, by the end? A whole lot more comfortable with drawing people. So yeah, the best way to improve is to just do the thing!

I believe that Moriah’s art inspires us all to be creative, and try things with art that “shock” us all, especially when she goes from drawing a cute girl in overalls to drawings a girl being taken by shadows and a girl with chunks of flesh missing from her face. Moriah is a very creative artist.

There are definitely a couple “rules” with facial anatomy that might help with basic layout (if you’re looking straight on then):
1) the lips should align with the jaw
2) the bottom of the nose should align with the bottom of the ears
3) the eyes align with the top of the ear
4) the eyes are generally one eye width apart from each other
5) the mouth is generally as wide as the pupils when looking forward

These can be stretched or amplified for style and facial variation, but thats the general face anatomy structure.

Another tip: To avoid every character looking the same play around with shape of features, make the face shape rounder or longer, make the nose wider or more pointed, make the lips bigger or uneven, make the eyes narrow or angled. Everyone got a different shaped face so your characters should too lol.
