I picked up a very unusual custom-hacked computer yesterday: A Commodore 128D that is actually a VIC-20 inside! And it works perfectly!

Well, now I know what happened to the repacked VIC 20 my wife found. Nice to see it got to a good home.

Drives for the 64/128 work on the VIC20. But not the other way around...a 1540 won't work on the 64/128 unless you change the ROM. Ironically, it's too fast for them.
BTW: It's a good idea to store 1571s with a disk or a protector inserted and closed. Otherwise, the metal strip holding the upper head is likely to break after some time due to mechanical stress.
