Homestead in the Mountains. Wooden Off Grid Cabin Build (41)

Video 41 is here! General work continues at the remote British Columbia property. Plenty of action on the trail. It's a good workout getting materials all the way to the river, but I would much rather build with local trees. Sawmill on the way for January, but part of me also wants to build with logs the old time way. As time moves on it will be exciting to build many different ways.
More cabin building. The roof sheathing and framing for roof and walls will be completed for the wing wall addition.
It sure looks beautiful here through the lense in winter. Glad you could make it.

Shawn, I watch your videos specifically because you are so authentic and genuine. Everyone has up days and down days. It wouldn't be realistic if you didn't. Be yourself and hopefully people enjoy your hard work. If they don't that's not your problem. Keep making your awesome videos and many of us will be here through it all. Love your channel. I look forward to it every week.

Let me tell you something, dude, you are one tough SOB and the way you deal with adversity doesn't need any apology. It is way obvious how hard you work and you are entitled to any attitude you want to cop.

It’s funny to me that someone would think that you were being negative or seemed upset. I’ve watched every video on this channel and half the time wonder how you could be so patient and calm with some of the struggles you’ve worked through.

There are plenty of channels promoting an image of homesteading/off grid living where they pretend to be living independently, when in fact they quite obviously are not. I watch your channel because what you are doing is fucking hard. You have grit, and that is why I watch.

Don't change a thing in your videos, Shaun! We love the authenticity of what you're doing and the life you are making for yourself.

I really enjoy that this is not the perfect homestead channel. Victories, setbacks, occasional temporary defeats, it's all shown. Makes it all so relatable.

Dawg, you're killing it out there. Don't over think it, keep showing us the reality. Don't try and sugar coat shit. We love you for this.

Your realism is not only acceptable and relatable, but actually the better part of your videos. EG, you pulling the chunks of ice out of the bog with your bare hands where your ATV was stuck was so realistic and moving that once again I had to go throw another log in my wood stove here in my home. I'm right now looking at your views in less than one hour after you posted this video... 5152 people watching within the first 59 minutes of posting it says you're doing it right.

Those first comments are my sentiments exactly.
As hard as you work I've never noticed you being negative I love it that you're real! Not many people could do what you do! The hardship just to get to your property is overwhelming to me. Keep doing what you do and thank God you're real!

If we had to endure all the hardships you are facing at an almost daily basis, most of us would constantly have a close-bitten face. I have been surprised many times of your ability to smile and even laugh when things seem overwhelming to "normal" people. You are exceptionally strong both physically and mentally. If some people expect you to smile because you are on camera, they are watching the wrong channel.
99, 9 % of us are very grateful to be able to see a glims of your interesting and demanding way of life. Thank you!🙏

Having grown up on remote acreage in northern BC I can easily say people generally have no idea the reality of the daily grind of what you're enduring and what an amazing level of accomplishment it is. I'm always amazed how positive you seem to be Shawn, so thanks for just being you and being real.

For the life of me I will never understand people who watch a program and feel they need to be nasty over a person being human. Awful. You are a very hard working man and do more than those who comment could ever dream of doing. Ignore them and continue to follow your dream AND rant occasionally!

I admire the heck out of the way you deal with the adversity of living in your frozen wilderness. You amaze me with how well you deal with it. I look forward to each episode, never doubt yourself!

Just stay true to yourself. We like you the way you are. Don't change for anyone.

You, my friend, are a modern day Dick Prenoke and you be you. What you do is honest, helpful and a pure outdoor wilderness joy. Life is better because of you. Don't change a thing, please. I eagerly await each video and wish I were there to help. Take care and may God bless your efforts.

I just wanted to say l enjoy your videos because they are real. I’ve spent many years hauling my own 5 gallon water jugs up from a creek, cutting and shopping fire wood. Raising animals and growing my own food. It’s not all sunshine…Mud, snow rain, wildlife. But with the trials and tribulations it seems to make it all the more rewarding. It’s a tough existence and l commend you for taking it on. Way too many romanticize this kind of life. Just be you is all you can do… if people don’t like it, oh well. Can’t please everyone.
PS: your new place is going to be great… so much room and very comfortable l’m sure. Say hi to Nibbles 👋🏻
