Actually this is not as sad as you think. Remember poes? They are souls with no connection to good or evil. These are not poes. These are spirits who are gifting items to the hero to stop the newly risen evil. That isn't sad when you think about it.

Makes me glad that the Deya Village Depths are a floor-to-ceiling cliff. In CaC, it states that because of the Hills Of Baumer, nobody in Deya Village realised what was happening in Hyrule Castle on the day of the Calamity. Once the Guardians came over the hills the only escape would’ve been that narrow passage towards Duelling Peaks. CaC states that there would have been very few, if any, survivors.
Can you imagine how many Poe Souls would be there? I mean, I like collecting stuff, but … that would’ve just been TOO many . . .
