I think they use incandescent bulbs in the dome is because they dim when you close the door - LEDs don't normally dim (although they can if the voltage/current is right). Some people also like the warmer color of incandescent lamps and the biggest reason of all is they're cheap and FoMoCo probably has 8 Gazillion+ on-hand might as well use them up....
