Opposition parties raise concerns about Trans Mountain costs

At a news conference in Ottawa, MPs from the Bloc Québécois, NDP, and Green party are joined by representatives from environmental groups to raise concerns about the cost of the federal government’s investment in the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project. Trans Mountain CEO Ian Anderson announced on February 7 that the cost of the pipeline’s construction will increase from an initial estimate of $7.4 billion to $12.6 billion.

Speaking with reporters are Dogwood campaigns manager Alexandra Woodsworth, NDP environment critic Laurel Collins, Green Parliamentary Leader Elizabeth May, Bloc Québécois Leader Yves-François Blanchet, and Greenpeace climate and energy campaigner Patrick Bonin.

The Project MESS is Entirely the Responsibility of the Federal Government. Ottawa Gets $20 Billion in Federal Taxes directly from the UN-Equalization Tax From Alberta Every Year. $10 Billion of that Goes Directly to Quebec which is Canada's Welfare Province. #WEXITNOW Independence is the ONLY Logical Path Forward for the WEST. The Rest of the Country can Pay their Own Bills. Since 1960, Alberta has Given Ottawa over $ 600+ Billion Dollars in Federal Taxes, MORE than they have Received Back in Federal Funding. This Needs to END!! Alberta could Easily Pay for the Pipeline in ONE YEAR if it wasn't Forced to Give $ 20 Billion to Ottawa EVERY YEAR!! This Panel is a TOTAL FARCE. Big reason the costs increased is due to the environmental zealots and certain politicians fighting the construction of the Trans Mountain expansion pipeline. The constant delays in getting this project done is the largest factor in the increased costs of this pipeline. Let's look at the original Trans Mountain pipeline built in 1953. The project was completed in 30 months by the Canadian Bechtel Ltd. Company. Original budget was $1 Billion but the project came in under budget at $93 Million. Built on time and under budget. Back in the 1950's Canada could get major projects done. Now with much improved construction equipment it takes us forever to build anything in Canada. From original concept it has taken 20 years to get this pipeline built. We have lost our Can-do attitude in Canada.

Alberta is Currently building the Largest Wind Energy Farm in North America. Alberta is doing More Alternative Energy Projects than Any Other Province in Canada. These Panel Communists want to END All Industrial Development in Canada, but Especially in Alberta. Proof Positive the Liberal Progressive East, are Deliberately Destroying Canada's Economy!!
